Team news
Sad to say the trip to Stocksbridge was unsuccessful and our bid for promotion faltered at the final away hurdle. We were well beaten on a course where local knowledge is vital and once behind it is very difficult to claw back. All looked okay after nine holes but a series of blind tee shots and five par threes on the back really killed any chance of creating momentum. So, we are almost certain to finish third, we must congratulate Wheatley who beat us twice and won at Stocksbridge which will be the difference in the end. We move on to our last game at home against Bondhay who I expect to be confirmed as relegated and a chance for one or two others to represent the club. Watch this space.. Thanks to Steve, Daz, Stef and John a great effort men.
New arrivals
Hopefully you have been in the shop this week and you have seen our second instalment of the new mid-summer collection from J Lindeberg. We are excited to be stocking such a reputable and fashionable brand as J Lindeberg. Call in store and have a look for yourself.
As well as the new clothing we also took delivery of the latest irons from PING, they have launched their new 'i Series' and 'GMax' irons to accompany the popular G30 model. The 'i Series' is custom engineered with 431 stainless steel for its high strength to weight ratio and softer feel. Its larger head size and low centre of gravity position in the long irons ensure forgiveness while inspiring the confidence to attack greens from longer distances with shots that launch high and land softly. The smaller short irons and wedges provide precision and control. The sole glides through the grass with ease, ensuring the solid contact required to play with control and consistency. A truly inspiring iron!
The 'GMax' is designed for those who want extreme distance, this is generated through COR-Eye Technology, which generates faster ball speeds from the simultaneous activation of the sole, face and top of the club. With a trampoline effect, the ball springs off the face up to 3mph faster than previous models and delivers a powerful sound. The wide sole design positions the centre of gravity to maximize forgiveness, leading to shots that launch higher and land softly. Longer blade lengths and increased offset contribute to the ease of playing the GMax iron. The four thru eight iron faces are heat-treated in a tightly controlled process that makes the material approximately 40% stronger, allowing the face to be thinner for greater flexing and faster ball speeds.
