I am in need of a volunteer to be my "Game Improvement Champion". The idea is that I take someone under my wing for eight weeks and help them work on all aspects of their game and check their equipment is well suited and in turn improve their golf scores, all at a small cost to the volunteer.
Anyone volunteering must be available at least once a week to undertake their lessons and be prepared to have their progress reported weekly in my newsletter as well as writing their own thoughts on their progress. I want to use all my years of experience as a coach, a custom fitter and PGA professional to help someone make big progress in a fairly short space of time!
This is something I have wanted to do for quite a while and I'm sure it is going to be a fun and exciting challenge and if you want to be considered for this project then please contact me here if you are interested.
Congratulations to Craig Swift who is the first winner of the Pro's nine hole Fiddle with 19 points for the front nine in tough conditions. The Pro's nine hole fiddle will continue every Tuesday from 3pm. Anyone wanting to enter next week's nine hole Pro-Am with myself or Tom please contact the shop. Thanks to everyone who turned up for the first event.
Hurricane at Hickleton
Well not quite a hurricane but the First Team certainly faced gale force winds at times for their first match of the season as we were left blown away with an 8-0 loss. A difficult venue for strangers to the course in those conditions but all played their hearts out. Sometimes when you are faced with a couple of chip-ins and a holed bunker shot from 40 yards you know it's not going to be your night! No excuses though Hickleton were just better on the night. We will have our revenge in the return match. Thanks to Colin, Jordan, Ken Lister and Andy Jarman for their support.
Congratulations to Harry Warhurst who scored a magnificent 35 points in a Regent's Fiddle. Harry had 15 points on the front nine finishing with 20 points on the back nine. At 96 years of age Harry is an inspiration to us all.
Congratulations to Claire Oates and Judith Race who won the Sheffield District Foursomes at Chesterfield Golf Course and also Claire Oates and Jacqui Lomas who came third in the Sheffield & District Winter Foursomes at Doncaster Golf Club.
A Hallowes Ladies Team consisting of Lynn Harrison, Claire Oates, Sandra Barnes and Jacqui Lomas played in the Yorkshire Ladies AM-AM at Ganton finishing a very respectable fifth place on the difficult championship course.
