Lombard Trophy This week Harrison Lamb and I had an enjoyable round when we played in the Regional Qualifier for the Lombard Trophy at Little Aston Golf Club. We scored a respectful six-under-par betterball score of 66, unfortunately we finished two shots behind the winners in fifth place.

Supplementary Scores Having spoken to many of you, I have realised that not many people know about the supplementary score procedure. For those of you who struggle to play in the Saturday and Thursday Medals, this option is there for you to play a counting card for handicap to use at any time. Obviously there are guidelines so I've outlined the important things below. How to play a counting supplementary score (This option is only available to handicaps 6 and above - Not available for Cat 1 golfers): - Come into the pro shop and state you would like to do a supplementary score. This is you stating your intention to submit a score for handicap. No card will be accepted unless this is done prior to your round.
- Play your round stating which tee/course you've chosen to play (Gents - Yellow or white tees and Ladies - Red tees).
- Hand scorecard back to the pro shop - All scores count good and bad and your handicap will be adjusted accordingly.
- Scores measured against the SSS of course played.
- Weather conditions or other scores are not taken into account.
If you are still unsure and would like me to explain in to you in more detail, please pop into the pro shop next time you are down at the club.

We’re sure the majority of you will agree that having a distance device on the course is a huge benefit, going hand-in-hand with knowing how far you hit each club. For those of you in the market for a laser rangefinder or GPS device, here are a few options within Garmin’s range to suit different preferences. |
Pinpoint laser accuracy There's one standout feature to Garmin's Z80 laser rangefinder that sets it apart from all others on the market. As well as giving precise distances up to 350 yards away, the Z80 also includes hole maps that are integrated into the viewfinder, which display the shape of the hole and provide front and back distances when you lock on to the flag. |
|
Information at a glance If you prefer wearable technology, Garmin has both GPS watches and bands to suit all styles. The Approach S60 watch, seen here on the left, boasts colour hole maps, hazard information and offers front, middle and back yardages. The other, the Approach X40 band, is a slim, lightweight and waterproof wristband that gives you distances to the green and to hazards, as well as heart rate and activity tracking. |
