Competition news

Devil's Am-Am - Saturday, 21 October

Congratulations to Nigel Fisher, Jarrod Fisher and Chris Simpson for winning the Devil's Am-Am Competition with a great score of 86 points. Full results were as follows:

First place - N. Fisher, J. Fisher and C. Simpson (86 points), second place - D. Roberts, R. Pashley and G. Thorpe (81 points) and in third place - M. Pomfrey, J. Hemstalk and G. Raines (80 points).

 
Club news

Upcoming Events at Hallowes

We have a number of events coming up over the next few weeks including:

  • Friday, 27 October - Halloween Party.
  • Friday, 27 October - Sunday, 29 October - Beer Festival.
  • Saturday, 18 November - Annual Dinner and Prize Presentation.

Halloween weekend

Tickets are now on sale for the annual Halloween Party on Friday, 27 October (6:00pm til 9:00pm). The cost is £5 for children and £1 for adults. Food is included for children, adults will be able to buy food separately. Entertainment will be provided by Mick, our resident DJ, there will be games for the children and the shepherd's barn will again be decorated in a spooky way. Tickets can be bought from the bar - please don't leave it until the last minute.

Disco and Pie n' Peas - Saturday, 28 October. As part of this weekend, which is also our beerfest weekend, there will be entertainment and food available on Saturday, 28 October. Tickets are £7. Please book at the bar.


Beer Festival - Winter hours

The beer festival will take place from Friday, 27 October to Friday, 4 November. There will be a variety of beers available throughout the week. Please note if anyone requires food on the Saturday it needs to be ordered by Friday.

Winter hours will commence on Monday, 30 October, notices of times will be posted.


Quiz Nights - Wednesday, 25 October

All members (playing and social) are welcome – please bring any partners, friends etc. to hopefully enjoy an entertaining and not too serious evening. If you have never been to a quiz at Hallowes, come along and give it a go and at the same time support your golf club. Each evening commences at 8:00pm (Try to be there by 7:45pm), lasts less than two hours and for the bargain price of £2 all of which is paid out in prizes. While teams are in fours normally, don’t worry if you haven’t a four as we can sort that out on the night.

Future dates in 2017:

  • Wednesday, 8 November.
  • Wednesday, 22 November.
  • Wednesday, 6 December.
  • Wednesday, 20 December.

PING Fitting Day - Friday, 3 November

On Friday, 3 November the PING Fitting Day will take place from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Their expert fitting technician will be on site to give you the chance to try the entire range including the new G400 irons and woods. The G400 range has only been out a few weeks, but both irons and woods have been getting rave reviews.

One of the most rewarding parts of our job is seeing the long-term improvements our members enjoy after a successful fitting session. You may think you’ll suit a specific iron, but we often find it’s only by testing different head and shaft combinations that the best set-up reveals itself.

Stay protected

Titleist
Take dead aim

We've spoken a lot in recent weeks about Titleist's brilliant 718 irons that were launched at the beginning of the month, but now it's time for us to talk a bit about their new 818 hybrids.

As you can see in the photos below, there are two different hybrids in the H1 and H2. Whilst the H1 is the larger of the two and perfect for those golfers who sweep the ball off the ground, the H2 is for the steeper golfer who prefers a more iron-like look.
