Grand Prize Draw
To celebrate and commemorate our 125th year, the club are running a season long raffle with the top prize being your 2018 golf subs paid for. The cost of a raffle ticket is only £1 and there will be six draws throughout the year; three of these draws will be 'Big' draws with headline prizes such as tickets to the final day of The Open, golf holiday vouchers and golf kit and the great thing is, all tickets bought are included in all subsequent draws, so the more you buy early on in the season, the more chance you have of winning a prize. The raffle tickets are available to members, families of members and non-members.
Tickets will be available over the bar using your bar card account which gives you a receipt and a record of the ticket. So why not buy one ticket per round of drinks? You will also be able to purchase tickets from the pro shop. All members are invited to take some raffle tickets home from the pro shop and sell them to friends, family and work colleagues. There is a cash equivalent prize if the winner is a non-golfer. All raffle ticket purchases will be recorded on a master list. All draws will use a random number generator between one and the last number sold and we will aim for around 10 prizes per draw. Regular updates on future draws will be posted on HGC notice boards, emails, website and social media. The first draw will be made at the Family Easter Party on Friday, 7 April. Don't forget, any raffle ticket you buy will cover you for all draws throughout the year, so get buying the raffle tickets now for a better chance of winning!
Family Easter Party
Tickets are now on sale for the Family Party on Friday, 7 April. There will be Easter activities for children plus food and disco, all for £5 per child. Adults are £1 and food will be available to buy on the night. This night will also see the first draw in the Hallowes 125 Raffle. Tickets go on sale the week beginning Monday 20 March and the big prize is four tickets for the final day of The Open at Royal Birkdale (Sunday, 23 July). The 125 Committee and the Family Entertainment Team look forward to seeing you on the evening.

Would you like to come along for a free glass of wine with cheese and nibbles on Friday, 31 March? On this evening you will be able to see the refurbished Bill and Dorothy May Suite. Please get your tickets from the bar, there is no charge for the evening we just need an idea of numbers

Congratulations...
Congratulations to Scott Campbell for finishing fourth in the South African Sunshine Tour Qualifying School at Randpark Golf Club. Scott returned rounds of 72, 67, 66, 67 and 72 for a total of 16-under-par to secure his card for the 2017 season. The first event will be the Zimbabwe Open at Royal Harare Golf Club at the end of April.

Knockout Competitions
Entries for all 2017 Club Knockout Competitions are now being taken. Please enter your name on the entry sheets on the competition noticeboard and pay your £2.50 per person entry fee in the pro shop. The closing date for entries is Monday, 3 April.

Update On The 1st, 3rd And 4th Holes
As the playing season approaches, the greens committee felt an update on the above was appropriate. The bunkers and surrounds on holes one, three and four have settled nicely over the winter period, however there is little root growth as yet due to low soil temperatures. This means the turf is vulnerable to movement and "capping" if walked on. During the next 7 - 10 days new cutting machinery will be used to 'top off' the new bunker bankings and Steve Goldthorpe will continue to review when the new bunkers and surrounds can be brought into play. In any event all the new bunkers and surrounds will be be in use for the forthcoming April Medals.
