Modernising Golf's Rules
Last week the R&A proposed some key changes to the Rules of Golf from 2019. Their Rules Modernisation initiative has been underway for a few years now and this is the next stage in that process. The aim is to not only make the Rules easier to understand, but also to address some of the game's current problems, such as speed of play, and ensure they fit the needs of today's game.
Please spare a couple of minutes to complete our survey, which gives you the chance to have your say on the proposed changes.
We've picked out some of the most significant Rules changes for you to digest in this survey, before giving you the chance to say whether you agree or disagree with each of them. It'll be great to know your thoughts.
Have your say here.
Yellow Ball - Saturday, 8 April
Our first 2017 competition, the Yellow Ball, will be available online this Friday, 10 March at 9pm to book your tee time, or you may book on the clubhouse terminal at 6pm.
Annual Handicap Review
The handicap committee is required to carry out an annual review of all the handicaps of members for whom Hallowes is the home club. The purpose of the review is to identify:
Those players whose general playing performance and scoring pattern over the year is better than expected for their handicap category and who should be considered for a reduction in handicap.
Those players whose general playing performance and scoring pattern over the year is inferior to that expected for their handicap category and who should be considered for an increase of handicap.
Any member who considers his/her handicap to be incorrect, either too high or too low may request an annual review by writing to the Competition Chairman or to the Club Professional by Monday, 13 March.
The handicap committee shall advise any player whose handicap has changed as a result of this annual review. Decisions made by the handicap committee shall be final provided that the correct procedures are followed.

Don't Start The Season With Worn Grips...
Why would you risk poor ball striking by having to grip your clubs tighter? With different sizes and textures, there are a number of superb options from Golf Pride that I can advise you on. We can consider feel, traction, the size of your hands and how often you play in the rain. So are your grips shiny? Perhaps they've hardened and cracked, well no wonder if you're playing regularly.
For a limited time only we are offering one FREE Golf Pride grip on your 7-iron, that's right, completely FREE! There's no catch. We just want to show you just how beneficial a new grip can be. For your convenience we offer a same day fitting service.
