Keep the game moving - Wave people through sooner (Pace of Play)
The etiquette section in the Rules of Golf requires slower groups to wave faster groups through, yet often this doesn't happen. Golfers seem reluctant to be overtaken and we've all probably watched the group ahead start running between shots rather than waving us through. Similarly when players are searching for a ball, the call through (if it comes at all), is often too late to be of any real pace of play benefit.
Don't be embarrassed to wave people through if they are clearly playing faster than you and the course ahead is clear. Nobody really likes feeling hassled and nobody really likes being held up. If you can't find your ball and the hole ahead is clear, call those behind through early in the search rather than waiting nearly five minutes.
Are golfers fore-going safety?
It's time for a rant. From our very first adventures onto a golf course we're encouraged, not demanded, to scream 'fore' if our ball is going off line. We've all had to do it, both for ourselves and playing partners, when we see a miss-hit flying towards another golfer on the course who we're frantically hoping would just move out of the way.
So why is it that when the tour pros skew one left or right, where hundreds of spectators are lined up along the edge of the rough, do they not see the importance of shouting 'fore'? Take Pat Perez for example. On Sunday he saw a stray tee shot clatter into the head of a spectator on the 12th, before firing another loose drive into the leg of another spectator on the 15th. And guess what - no shout of 'fore' on either occasion.
Perez isn't in the minority either, it happens far too often. Shane Lowry's tweet (seen above) hits the nail on the head. Let's hope more players follow his mindset.

Don't start the season with worn grips...
Why would you risk poor ball striking by having to grip your clubs tighter? With different sizes and textures, there are a number of superb options from Golf Pride that I can advise you on. We can consider feel, traction, the size of your hands and how often you play in the rain. So are your grips shiny? Perhaps they've hardened and cracked, well no wonder if you're playing regularly.
For a limited time only we are offering one FREE Golf Pride grip on your 7-iron, that's right, completely FREE! There's no catch. We just want to show you just how beneficial a new grip can be. For your convenience we offer a same day fitting service.
