Hello golfers,

Rory McIlroy shot a stunning final round 64 to win the Tour Championship on Sunday. He beat American duo Ryan Moore and Kevin Chappell in a play-off to win in Atlanta and seal the £7.7 million FedEx Cup prize. However, McIlroy's victory was overshadowed soon after with the news the legendary 'The King' Arnold Palmer had passed away with a heart condition.

Jack Nicklaus summed up the mood of grief after the game of golf had lost one of it's true greats. 'Arnold was one of my best friends. He was more than a golfer. He was an icon'.

Bunker Improvements

Ground under repair on the 1st, 3rd and 4th holes. Due to the bunker work all bunkers and areas which are not turfed on the 1st, 3rd and 4th holes are GUR. These areas are not marked, but they are a compulsory drop. Please use the nearest drop zone.

If you have played over the last seven days you will have noticed the start of the bunker improvements program on the 1st, 3rd and 4th holes. The works will take approximately two - three weeks to complete and will inevitably lead to some disruption to playing conditions (temporary holes). Once completed the new bunkers will require a period of settlement, but will be fully in play at the beginning of next season. Please use the ball retriever to collect your golf ball from the GUR areas.

Divot filling at HGC (sponsored by Project Jon).

Project JonThe HGC Board are pleased to introduce a permanent divot filling facility. Two 'divot filler stands' holding small bags of divot filler mix have been installed, one by the practice nets and one adjoining the 10th/13th tees. Members are requested to take a bag with them and fill any divot they see while playing their round and then return the empty bag to one of the stands.

The stands are sponsored by (and made by) Project Jon, a well established, Dronfield based firm who specialise in complete kitchen and bedroom solutions. Project Jon is owned and run by Jonathan Smith, step-son of long standing HGC member Fred Wild.

Project Jon also provide:

  • A cost effective Replacement Door Service for kitchen and bedrooms (any additional worktops, sinks or appliances can be supplied and fitted if required).
  • Home offices or built in furniture.
  • Specialist trades (plumbing, electrical, tiling, plastering) via trusted tradesman.

The customers of Project Jon receive the best personal service and frequently orders result from recommendation and referrals. Several HGC members have already had work done and it is hoped that this number will increase and this will be the start of a long and happy relationship. Any enquiries please call Jon on 07876 353344.
