The US Open
This week sees the start of the second Major of the year. The US Open is known for the tough way the courses are set up each year and as you can see from the photos, Oakmont will be no different.
Thursday June Medal - Thursday, 9 June
Congratulations to Wayne Knight, our Captain, for winning Division One and John Dakin for winning Division Two in the recent Thursday June Medal. Full results were as follows:
Division One - First place - Wayne Knight (71 - 4 = 67), second place - Andy Hirst (82 - 14 = 68) and in third place - Matt Daughtrey (71 - 2 = 69).
Division Two - First place - John Dakin (90 - 18 = 72), second place - Kevin Bateman (89 - 16 = 73) and in third place - Paul Gould (92 - 18 = 74).
Saturday June Medal - Saturday, 11 June
Well done to everyone who scored under par last Saturday, especially Jack Wilson and Craig Swift who won each division with two great rounds. Full results were as follows:
Division One - First place - Jack Wilson (70 - 5 = 65), second place - Oliver Cousins (71 - 4 = 67) and in third place - David Wright (71 - 3 = 68).
Division Two - First place - Craig Swift (84 - 20 = 64), second place - John Lethaby (85 - 18 = 67) and in third place - Paul Holland (82 - 15 = 67).
Ladies Saturday Medal - Saturday, 11 June
Silver Winner - Claire Oates (89 - 13 = 76).
Bronze Winner - Judith Race (96 - 23 = 73).
2016 Matchplay Competitions
Please note that it is almost the deadline for the second round of the 2016 Matchplay Competitions and the following rules apply:
- All competitors must record a contact telephone number and email address against their name on the entry sheet.
- It is the responsibility of all competitors to contact the opposing party to arrange a match date prior to the end of each round noted.
- Please plan your games well in advance ensuring you take account of holiday arrangements etc.
- Please play as early as possible in the competition calendar.
- Failure to complete any matches by the due date will result in disqualification of both parties.
- No extensions will be permitted unless closing date is altered as a result of course closure.
These rules are intended to avoid dispute between players and ensure the smooth running of the competition. Please comply and avoid disqualification.

Friday, 24 June - Badger Trophy
Friday, 24 June - Bill May Jug
Friday, 24 June - Mixed Knockout
Junior Competition News
Jack Wilson and Sam Bairstow returned under par rounds over the weekend. Jack shot a gross 70 (nett 65) in the Saturday June Medal and Sam shot a gross 65 in the Junior Medal last Sunday. Well done boys, keep up the good golf.

First place - Sam Bairstow (65 - 1 = 66), second place - James Millington (92 - 21 = 71) and in third place - Freddie Parlby (89 - 18 = 71).

Saturday Morning Junior Golf Coaching Roll-ups
Our next session will be this Saturday, 18 June. These sessions are the perfect way to introduce children to the game of golf. Full details are as follows:

Time - Arrive 9.15am for a 9.30am - 10.30am start
Price - £5 per child
