Course Update
As from Wednesday preferred lies are no longer in operation.
Sheffield Union Junior Team
Members will be pleased to know that two of our juniors have represented Sheffield Union junior teams in recent weeks and achieved good results. Jack Wilson played against York & Halifax and in both games won his singles and doubles matches. Sam Bairstow played against York and won both his single and doubles matches. Sam has also won the best 36 hole score in the recent Yorkshire Union Fifth Division Championship held at Hillsborough Golf Club. Well done to these boys, both of whom have been chosen to play again this weekend against Teeside.
Junior Competitions
The following dates have been set for Junior Competitions over the next few months:

President's Putter Competition
Unfortunately we had to abandon the President's Putter Competition last Saturday, due to the heavy rain which water logged the greens late in the afternoon. The competition has been declared null and void because only 63% of the field had completed their rounds when it became impossible to finish that day. A new re-arranged date will be published soon.
BW Lucas Medal
Congratulations to Sandra Barnes (Silver Winner) and Marie Lethaby (Bronze Winner) in the recent BW Lucas Medal.
2016 Matchplay Competitions
Please note that it is almost the deadline for the first round of the 2016 Matchplay Competitions and the following rules apply:
- All competitors must record a contact telephone number and email address against their name on the entry sheet.
- It is the responsibility of all competitors to contact the opposing party to arrange a match date prior to the end of each round noted.
- Please plan your games well in advance ensuring you take account of holiday arrangements etc.
- Please play as early as possible in the competition calendar.
- Failure to complete any matches by the due date will result in disqualification of both parties.
- No extensions will be permitted unless closing date is altered as a result of course closure.
These rules are intended to avoid dispute between players and ensure the smooth running of the competition. Please comply and avoid disqualification.
First round closing dates are as follows:

Friday, 24 June - Bill May Jug
Friday, 22 July - Mixed Knockout

Get into Golf Taster Session for Ladies
Our
NEW re-arranged date will be Monday, 30 May (2pm - 4pm). The lady members at Hallowes Golf Club are hosting the session and I will be on hand to offer expert tuition all
FREE of charge in a bid to show ladies how great golf can be. If you know any ladies who might like to give golf a try, please tell them to meet near the putting green outside the clubhouse, 10 minutes before the session starts. All equipment will be provided.

Saturday Morning Junior Golf Coaching Roll-ups
Our next session will be this Saturday, 28 May. These sessions are the perfect way to introduce children to the game of golf. Full details are as follows:
Venue - Hallowes Golf Club practice ground
Date - Saturday, 28 May
Time - Arrive 9.15am for a 9.30am - 10.30am start
Price - £5 per child
Members and visitors are invited to bring their children or grandchildren aged 5 - 16 years old, to try golf for the first time. If you would like to book your place, please
