Tips of the week to maximize your distance in winter!
This week I thought about highlighting a few simple tips to help you deal with the ever changing conditions of the golf course to help you maximize your distance in the softer and colder conditions.
Club up to hit more greens - With the softer ground conditions and the colder air temperatures you have to be realistic and accept that the ball isn't going to fly or roll as far during the winter months as it does in the summer. To compensate it's important you club up during the winter and hit one or even two clubs more than normal in your approach shots to the greens.
Try using a softer golf ball - In recent ball fitting experience days with Bridgestone they have proved that in most cases using a softer ball that spins more will keep the ball in the air longer and will increase your carry distance to help offset the loss in roll due to wetter and softer fairways. Your Pro's recommendations:
Bridgestone Extra Soft golf ball - 53 ball compression, £5 per sleeve or £16.99 per dozen.
Bridgestone E6 golf balls - 50 ball compression, £6.50 per sleeve or £24.99 per dozen.
Add loft to your driver - Winter is really when modern adjustable drivers come into their own. Try adding more loft to your current driver to help increase your carry and add valuable distance this winter. If you can increase the launch angle by one degree you can add up to five extra yards carry.
For everything golf this Christmas!
